Fred's offers sewing Classes run by Julie from the Sewing Yard

Starting from Thursday 11th May, Fred's will be hosting sewing classes run by Julie Coward of the Sewing Yard. Julie is a seamstress and sewer, with years of experience, running her own alterations service and enthusiastic hobbyist with a strong interest in period costumes.

Classes are open to all levels from beginner to the more advanced.Julie will guide you through your project of choice, and sewers are advised to come with their project in mind. The classes will be hosted in the basement classroom at Fred's, and you can use our sewing machines or bring you own (materials not provided, but can be bought from Fred's).

Talking about the classes, Julie said "Fred's is wonderful and is my home from home. When they asked me about doing sewing lessons there I jumped at the chance! I love sewing and am really looking forward to passing on some knowledge and helping others with their projects".

Classes are 2.5 hours long and currently run from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm on Friday's.

Each 2.5 hour class is £16 and this can be booked online or instore.

Fred's Haberdashery owner, Emily Lord, is looking forward to the sewing classes "Since we took over in February 2020 I wanted to run a variety of classes from Fred's, but Covid put our plans on hold.  We now feel positive about offering classes again. I've been running crochet classes and lessons, as well as craft socials. Now Julie offering sewing classes just feels like the natural extension of this."
